like many 2020 couples, lauren and craig postponed their wedding to 2021. but that didn’t stop them from celebrating their love this year. so, they packed up their truck and drove to bedford, virginia to say their vows in the stunning blue ridge mountains.
i first met lauren when she drove down for the 2016 women’s march in washington dc. we are distantly related and had been friends on facebook but had never met in person. it was so much fun to spend time with her, make history with together, and go on to watch as her relationship with craig grow and flourish over the coming three and a half years.
there was no hesitation when she asked if i would be interested in photographing their elopement. of course! we researched locations together and landed on the blue ridge pretty quickly. i mean, how could we not? the four-hour drive to get there was the perfect distance – close enough for a day trip but far away enough to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. the quaint town of bedford offered the perfect backdrop for a weekend getaway with their best-fur-friend, lilly. it was the first time all three of them had been to the mountains, but i certainly don’t think it will be their last trip.
